THE GOVERNMENT came under fire last night for failing to lift the ban on beef on the bone after raising hopes it would end this month. Tim Yeo, the Tory agriculture spokesman, said: "The Prime Minister has shown he has no interest in helping this country's farmers." Nick Brown, Minister of Agriculture, says he wants the decision taken on scientific rather than political grounds. He awaits reports from Welsh and Scottish chief medical officers.
