Guidelines on how the public should be compensated for bad advice on personal pensions have been challenged in the courts by the trade body representing independent financial advisers.

The Independent Financial Advisers Association had sought a judicial review of proposals by the Securities and Investments Board that required advisers to investigate each client who had transferred from an occupational pension scheme into a personal plan.
