‘It sounds really nice with your accent’: Listen to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s trailer for their new podcast
Couple to host and produce podcasts themselves
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have released a trailer for their new podcast series, which will be released with Spotify as part of an exclusive deal under their new Archewell Audio production company.
The content, which is expected to fully launch in 2021, will champion diverse perspectives and voices and see Harry and Meghan as hosts and producers.
In a trailer for the series, released on Tuesday, Harry says: "Shall we start? Ladies first," before Meghan responds: "No, say it because I think it sounds really nice with your accent."
The trailer ends with Meghan joking about her husband: "Oh! He has a podcast voice!"
In a statement the couple said: “What we love about podcasting is that it reminds all of us to take a moment and to really listen, to connect to one another without distraction."
“With the challenges of 2020, there has never been a more important time to do so, because when we hear each other, and hear each other’s stories, we are reminded of how interconnected we all are.”
Harry and Meghan are expected to release a “Holiday Special” podcast ahead of the full launch next year.
“We're talking to some amazing people,” said Meghan of the upcoming episode. "They're going to share their memories that have really helped shape this past year which has been, as we know, a difficult one for everyone."
Harry added: "So many people have been through so much pain this year, experiencing loss, a huge amount of uncertainty, but it feels worth acknowledging that 2020 has connected us in ways we could have never imagined, through endless acts of compassion and kindness."
News of Harry and Meghan’s latest venture comes after the couple signed a deal with Netflix to make documentaries, docu-series, feature films, scripted shows and children’s programming.
