A time of year that signals the return of Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte’s and Mulled Wine, foodies will be pleased to hear another fan favourite is making its way back onto menus far and wide.
That’s right, McDonald’s’ McRib Sandwich is officially back.
Made using seasoned boneless pork that’s drenched in McDonald’s signature sauce and topped with dill pickles and onions, the fast good giant has confirmed that the sandwich is available once again.
But, there’s a catch. Unfortunately, the McRib is only going to be available for a limited time only and is currently only up for grabs in participating U.S. restaurants.
Ahead of the launch McDonald’s franchises teased its return with tweets from branches in SoCal, where it returned on Nov 2, and Hawaii, which will begin serving it on Nov 7.
“The McRib is truly an iconic sandwich and has been a fan favorite since its debut on the McDonald’s menu 35 years ago,” Chef Chad Schafer said in a press release.
“Our customers are passionate and tell us they enjoy the sweetness of the barbeque sauce, which pairs perfectly with the hints of pickles and onions. It’s more than a sandwich, it’s a legend.”
Unsurprisingly, fans of the McRib can barely contain their excitement taking to Twitter to celebrate the return of the coveted sandwich.
“This is not a drill, the McRib is back,” one person wrote.
Another added, “ Make fun of me all you want, but I love the #McRib and am SO happy it’s back!”
To coincide with the relaunch, McDonald’s anticpates that hungry fans might have some trouble figuring out where to get one and as such, has rolled out an app called the McRib Finder to help you track down participating restaurants.
Regrettably The Independent can confirm that McDonald’s have said there are no plans for the McRib to return to UK menus.
The last time it made a comeback this side of the pond was back in 2015 following a 12-year absence – albeit just for a small window of just five weeks.
