A FIRST-AID treatment for burns widely used by ambulance services is now available to the public. Water-Jel is a sterile dressing saturated with a special cooling gel to relieve pain, reduce burn progression and guard against infection. Doctors believe the sooner it is applied to a burn, the better. Water-Jel and a similar product for small burns, Cool-Jel, are available from chemists.
