WOMEN on antidepressants may need higher doses just before their periods. Doctors at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio report two cases where blood concentrations of antidepressant halved before menstruation; both women had said their symptoms became worse in the premenstrual period. Increasing the dose seven to 10 days before a period improved symptoms, says a report in the Journal of Psychosomatic Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
