Fashion Update: Scenting battle

THE price battle between perfume manufacturers and discount retailers is being called the War of the Roses.

Now Eau Zone, the controversial discount perfume chain selling perfumes rather cheaper than the manufacturers would like, has relaunched under a new name, The Perfume Shop. Four new shops have recently opened in Belfast, Blackpool, Milton Keynes and Birmingham, selling 200 brands, including soaps and body lotions. Pre-Christmas bestsellers are Anas Anas (a saving of pounds 3) and Beautiful ( pounds 1.55 off), and for men, Salvador Dali ( pounds 5.55 off). Phone 081-744 2220 for your nearest store.

Discount perfumes are also sold by the Asda supermarket chain, with discounts of up to 30 per cent at 152 of its stores. Savings include pounds 10 on Opium eau de toilette; pounds 6.55 on Giorgio 50ml eau de toilette; pounds 4.75 on Polo 50ml aftershave. Littlewoods is offering 25 per cent discounts on perfumes and aftershaves.
