As John Marston – a former outlaw gone straight, now in the dubious employ of the federal government – it falls to you to settle old scores and bring some law back to the Wild West. Anyone au fait with Rockstar’s other sandbox franchise GTA will feel at home; but where Liberty City was all car-jacking and commotion, Red Dead is an apt study of isolation and man’s struggle. Unreservedly action-packed missions and honed combat delight, while the spectacular environments ensure riding moodily into the sunset is one of many clichés brought magnificently to life.
