With its stunningly spooky, perfectly realised underwater dystopia, 2007’s BioShockwas a first-class FPS that made waves. Its sequel, set 10 years after the first game, is every bit as accomplished, with the deeply creepy Big Daddies, Little Sisters andGMmutants of last time plus some new frightening faces. While BioShock 2 inevitably fails to have the same impact as its predecessor (we’ve visited Rapture before and already fought its damaged denizens), it is a beautifully constructed game that is every bit as compelling second time around.
