Turtles crawl to freedom

More than 1,500 turtles have made a gradual escape from their farm in the United States.

David Driver, the turtle farmer, told sheriff's officials that he suspected vandals tore down fences around his turtle ponds.

Mr Driver – who breeds the turtles as pets and for export to China – told media that about 1,600 of the 2,200 turtles escaped. Sheriff's officials are continuing the search.
