Russian drones violated Polish airspace, an "egregious and unprecedented" act, leading to some being shot down by Polish forces with support from Dutch F-35 jets.
This incident occurred three days after Russia's largest aerial attack on Ukraine since the war began, which included a strike on a key government building in Kyiv.
UK leaders, including Sir Keir Starmer and Defence Secretary John Healey, condemned Russia's actions as "reckless, unprecedented and dangerous", noting a new level of hostility.
Nato Secretary General Mark Rutte affirmed the alliance's vigilance and commitment to defend "every inch" of its territory, warning Russia to cease airspace violations.
The violation prompted the Polish defence minister to return home and led to urgent talks in London among European defence officials to discuss support for Poland and escalating Russian aggression.
