US Naval Academy placed under lockdown after reports of threats
Former US Naval Academy midshipman reportedly fires shots on campus
The U.S. Naval Academy and Naval Support Activity Annapolis in Maryland have been placed under lockdown.
The lockdown was initiated following reports of a threat and unconfirmed claims of shots being fired on campus.
Campus sources reportedly claimed a midshipman, previously expelled, returned to Annapolis with a weapon, with shots allegedly fired inside Bancroft Hall.
An email from an academy midshipman warned colleagues to 'get inside and lock your door right now,' emphasizing it was 'Not a drill. '
Emergency services, including police officers with long guns and a state police helicopter, were observed responding on campus.
