Japanese ambassador celebrates Sister City agreement by downing pint

Japanese ambassador cheered on as he downs pint of bitter in Manchester visit
  • Japanese Ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki was cheered in Manchester after drinking a pint of bitter.
  • The event followed the signing of a Sister City Agreement between Manchester and Osaka by Mr Suzuki and Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham.
  • Mr Suzuki, known for his appreciation of British culture, quoted the 1990s Boddingtons slogan, saying "By 'eck, it's gorgeous" after consuming the beer.
  • During his visit to Manchester, the ambassador also sampled an Eccles cake.
