Israeli takeover threat looms for Greta Thunberg’s Gaza aid flotilla

Israeli warship 'aggressively circles Gaza aid flotilla'
  • Greta Thunberg’s aid flotilla, carrying around 500 activists from over 40 countries, was "aggressively circled" by an Israeli military vessel near the Gaza coast.
  • Activists said that the Israeli ship steered dangerously close, forcing evasive manoeuvres to avoid collision, and remotely disabled their communications on Tuesday night.
  • The Israeli Defence Forces are reportedly preparing for potential "active takeovers" of the vessels.
  • Activists could face detention and deportation.
  • The Global Sumud Flotilla had previously reported alleged attacks by Israeli drones in international waters off Crete on 23 September and an incident in Tunisian waters on 9 September.
