Labour MP makes stunning claim about Cornwall in House of Commons
Ocean spume blankets the Lizard in Cornwall
Labour MP Perran Moon declared himself "Cornish, not English" during a House of Commons debate on the English Devolution and Community Empowerment Bill.
Moon, who represents Camborne and Redruth, stated he has been "mocked" for describing himself as Cornish.
He urged the government to ensure its devolution plans respect the status of Cornwall.
The MP encouraged other Cornish people, particularly the youth, to be "loud and proud" of their identity, affirming it is acceptable to consider oneself both Cornish and British.
Moon committed to working with the government to secure a devolution arrangement that respects Cornish national minority status and addresses issues like economic development and the housing crisis.
