- An elderly British couple, Barbie and Peter Reynolds, were reunited with their daughter Sarah in Doha on Friday, 19 September 2025, after being detained by the Taliban for seven and a half months.
- The couple, who had lived in Afghanistan for two decades, were held separately since their detention on 1 February, with the Taliban citing unspecified breaches of Afghan law.
- Upon their release, the Reynolds expressed feeling "wonderful and happy" and are due to undergo medical checks before returning to the UK.
- Barbie Reynolds indicated a willingness to return to Afghanistan, where they previously ran a training and education organisation, stating "if we can".
