Game of Thrones armour was too dangerous to use in battle scenes

  • The costume designer for Game of Thrones has revealed that the White Walkers' armour was too dangerous for use in action scenes.
  • Michele Clapton told The Guardian that the metal armour was also incredibly labour-intensive and hazardous to make.
  • “The armourists just loathed it because they really cut themselves. It’s almost like a huge cheese grater,” she told the publication.
  • Because of the risk of injuries to the actors, a safer leather substitute had to be created for the White Walkers' action sequences.
  • Actors portraying the White Walkers also had to wear hot water bottles beneath their costumes to keep warm.
