Stephen Colbert mocks Trump's comments about football ahead of Super Bowl

Stephen Colbert has mocked Trump's comments about not steering his son Barron toward playing football as it's a dangerous sport“.

Speaking on a pre-Super Bowl interview that aired on Face the Nation, Trump told Margaret Brennan he would have a “hard time” letting his son play.

“He likes soccer,” the president said, adding: “A lot of people, including me, thought soccer would probably never make it in this country, but it really is moving forward rapidly.”

Colbert, eyeing an opportunity, tore Trump's comments apart.

“Yes, we tried to keep soccer out for a long time, but it’s hard. It’s moving so rapidly,“ he quipped. |That’s how the caravan does it. They just dribble their kids up to the border. And then they bicycle kick them into El Paso, yelling, ‘Goooaaalll!’ That’s really why we need the wall. But it’s hard to build when you can’t use your hands.”

In 2013, Barack Obama said he would “have to think long and hard” before letting a son, if he had one, play football because of the risk of head injuries.

During Super Bowl 53, which saw New England Patriots beat Los Angeles Rams, several trailers for forthcoming films were released, including Avengers: Endgame, which Marvel fans think has been digitally doctored so as to preserve some of the film's surprises when it's eventually released in April.
