Gogglebox: Sophie Sandiford reassures viewers after crying over lockdown in latest episode

One of Gogglebox’s best-loved stars left viewers feeling emotional breaking down in tears in the latest episode.

On Friday night's outing of the entertainment series (6 November), Sophie Sandiford was shown alongside her brother, Pete, watching Boris Johnson's announcement of a second lockdown in England.  

 The usually chipper Sandiford started crying upon realising that her job as a window dresser would be affected by the closure of non-essential businesses.

Noticing that his sister was getting upset, Pete said: "Don't get upset, kid – don't because you'll set me off."

Sandiford replied:  "It's just sad isn't it. It's just s*** for everybody. It's going to get even worse; more people are going to lose their jobs and things like that. It's just awful."

Many viewers expressed their sadness at seeing Sandiford in tears on social media.

One person wrote: Seeing someone like Sophie who’s always funny and happy cry about the state of the country does hit home about how utterly s*** things are at the moment"

Responding to the outpouring of love, Sandiford wrote on Twitter: "Thank you so much for all the lovely messages tonight... it’s a tough time for everyone, but we’ve all just got to hang in there. 

“Sending love to everyone, better days are coming.”
