Eamonn Holmes has cast doubt on Piers Morgan’s future as the presenter of Good Morning Britain.

The This Morning host said his colleague could decide he has “had enough” at any given moment, and quit the ITV breakfast show.

Speaking on the Human Nature podcast, Holmes said Good Morning Britain had been “going down the drain of vanilla blandness” until Morgan joined in 2015.

“He came there and shook it up,” said Holmes. "He was the right man in the right place at the right time. And so far, so good.

"But the thing about Piers, and probably why a lot of people watch him, is you don’t know how long it’ll last, you don’t know how long he will last. You don’t know when he’ll have had enough.”

Morgan has faced criticism from viewers over the past few months due to his heated political rants.

In April, the presenter received 4,000 Ofcom complaints over his interviews with Conservative politicians.

Earlier this year, Morgan confirmed he had signed a contract running into 2021.
