Theatre review: Whose Life Is It Anyway? Comedy Theatre, London SW1 (0870-060 6637)

Reduced to a talking head after a road accident, quadriplegic Clare battles with her doctors for the right to die. Brian Clark has updated his 1970 hit to take into account medical advances, technological palliatives and legal precedents (such as the cases of Miss B and Diane Pretty). But neither the sparky, affecting central performance by Kim Cattrall nor Peter Hall's sometimes over-emphatically acted production can disguise the fact that the play, for all its humanity, is a tinny, untextured, artistically pretty undistinguished affair.
