Album: Various artists, Electric Eden (Universal)

The album of Rob Young's excellent book tracing the evolution of English folk into its electrified form in the late-1960s – one of the most fascinating, though not always musically successful, movements in our history.

In this case, the double CD defines the movement as a modulation from "Acoustic Eden" to "Electric Albion", from Peter Bellamy to Richard Thompson. A compelling story. But the book has more to say.
