As if to exorcise Where Rivers Meet, an excellent album of Bengali tunes made with her reeds-playing brother Idris, pianist Zoe Rahman – who also plays with Jerry Dammers' Spatial AKA – gives us the full jazz-spec, recorded at Soho's Pizza Express.
She favours tunes by pianists, with two tracks by Abdullah Ibrahim. The album is just a snapshot, really, with Oli Hayhurst on double bass and Gene Calderazzo on drums, plus guest Idris Rahman playing clarinet for two pieces, but Rahman swings hard, with a terrific left hand.
