Stop all the clocks: this is a classical/jazz crossover that actually works!
For at least part of its modest 40minute span violinist Manchon's quirky string quartet plus various guests on horns and harmonica, delivers spellbinding mood-music that conforms exactly to that mix of the strange and the beautiful that avant-garde fans dream about. Over soulful string-patterns, a cool-sounding sax or nerdy harmonica takes a line for a walk, sometimes suggesting tango, sometimes John Lurie's score for Stranger Than Paradise.
