Imagine the cheek of it! A band from Ipanema in Rio de Janeiro who prefer post-rock and wobbly psychedelia to the sand-between-the-toes sound of bossa nova or bottom-wiggling samba.
The septet's debut begins (on "Funeral") like Joy Division remixed for a Tarantino soundtrack, then progresses through a sonic landscape of almost Krautrock severity to what sounds a little like tropical lounge ("Experimental"). It's different all right. Trouble is, it might not be any good.
Pick of the album:'Diretriz': floaty lounge psychedelia
