Taylor Swift shuts down Avengers: Endgame Easter egg rumours on Ellen DeGeneres's show
Singer says fans mistakenly thought she would have something to do with the Marvel movie
Taylor Swift has shut down a fan theory which said she might have been linked to Avengers: Endgame.
In her first appearance on Ellen DeGeneres’s talk show on Wednesday, Swift discussed her love of hidden 'Easter eggs', which she regularly sprinkles through her photos, videos and social media to give fans clue about her future work.
While she told the host that her fans are usually “excellent” at figuring out her hidden messages, they got one major guess wrong in the lead-up to her new single ”Me!”, which came out in April.
“There were some fans that thought I had something to do with Avengers: Endgame, which I would have loved to have been asked, but I wasn’t asked to be in it at all,” she said.
The confusion, according to Swift, seemed to stem from the fact that her single came out on the same day as the Marvel blockbuster, and that she released a song called “End Game” in 2017.
“They were like, ‘Oh my God, she’s going to defeat Thanos,’ and I let everyone down... again,” Swift joked.
Swift’s interview with DeGeneres marks her first visit on the show in four years.
It comes as Swift resumes talking to the media after deciding not to do interviews for her most recent album Reputation, released in 2017.
