Puerto Rico mayor weeps on TV: "The worst fear is that we cannot get to everyone in time"

Lin-Manuel Miranda has a reputation for being one of the kindest, most optimistic people in Hollywood - but there's no applying that when it comes to Donald Trump.

The Hamilton creator didn't mince his words in his response to Trump's Twitter attack on San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz, after her emotional plea for aid to Puerto Rico. The island was devastated by a pair of deadly hurricanes that has left millions without power and has caused widespread shortages of food, water, and medicine.

Cruz issued a "mayday call" for help, stressing "we are dying, and you are killing us with the inefficiency and the bureaucracy". "I am asking the President of the United States to make sure somebody is in charge that is up to the task of saving lives," she said.

Trump's response was simply to churn out an attack on Cruz herself: "Such poor leadership ability by the Mayor of San Juan, and others in Puerto Rico, who are not able to get their workers to help. They want everything to be done for them when it should be a community effort."

Many were appalled by Trump's incredible lack of empathy and concern for the population of Puerto Rico - and Hollywood was certainly no different. Though the likes of Lady Gaga, Ellen DeGeneres, Chris Evans, and John Legend all tweeted their disgust, the most passionate response of all came from Miranda, whose parents are from Puerto Rico.

"She has been working 24/7. You have been GOLFING," the star tweeted. "You're going straight to hell. Fastest golf cart you ever took."
