Two Wounded Birds
All We Wanna Do
Had The Libertines dabbled in surf it would probably have sounded like this. Fantastic new track from Margate's answer to The Vaccines.
Fleet Foxes
Battery Kinzie
Familiar territory for Fleet Foxes, but they do the whole upbeat acoustic thing incredibly well. Set to appear on the 'Helplessness Blues' album.
Cults
You Know What I Mean
Beautifully, fragile indie-pop that burns with the spirit of the 1950s. Soft verses give way to a burst of frenzied guitar in the chorus.
All The Young
The First Time
Anthemic guitars, support slots with Brother and a major label record deal. Not a bad start for this Stoke four-piece. File next to The Twang.
Sebastian
Embody
Great comeback single from the Ed Banger records man. Chunky beats, 90s piano riffs and an intensely funky bass.
Town
Eighteen
Another MOR indie band intent on spending its way to a fan-base. Still worth a listen - if only to hear what hype-makers deem 'exciting' today.
Pinetop Perkins
Pinetop Boogie Woogie
Born in 1913, Pinetop Perkins took his brand of piano-based blues and R&B on the road with everyone from Robert Johnson to Muddy Waters. His death earlier this week leaves David 'Honeyboy' Edwards as the sole surviving original Delta Blues musician.
Jamie Woon
Lady Luck
Dubstep? Post-dubstep? Let's face it, this is just fantastically slow-burning modern soul.
