Sir: Your Northern Correspondent laments the lack of published material about Thomas Griffiths Wainewright ("Poet Laureate falls under the spell of an erudite poisoner", 25 August). You, and your Northern Correspondent, and possibly the Poet Laureate, may wish to know that a biography of Wainewright by Jonathan Curling under the title Janus Weathercock was published by Nelson and Sons in 1938. It runs to 376 pages, plus 18 black and white plates of which 14 are reproductions of drawings or paintings by Wainewright.
