Letter: In Brief

Sir: D P Whistler, a former ITV transmission controller (letter, 6 August) says that the only time News at Ten started past 10pm was if it was preceded by a party political broadcast. As a viewer, my experience over the last few years was very different. Almost every night I seem to remember it starting three or four minutes late due to late programme running, programme trails and adverts. I would frequently wonder how Big Ben still struck ten at these times.
