Sir: I do not wish to seem overly pedantic, but Gary Holden's assertion (letter, 17 November) that Tardis stands for "Time and Relative Dimensions in Space" is not entirely accurate. The original acronym (which has been corrupted over time) stood for "Time and Relative Dimension in space".
