Sir: Clive Loveless, writing about announcements on planes and trains (letter, 20 August), asks, "Why do we have to put up with this constant mollycoddling aural abuse?" Perhaps the answer is staring him in the face. He may be able to see which station a train is stopped at, or indeed if it is at a station at all and not stuck in the middle of nowhere. Those of his fellow passengers who are blind or partially sighted may not be so lucky.
