Philippe Le Guay's throwback comedy pits bourgeois complacency against proto-feminist togetherness.

Fabrice Luchini plays mild-mannered fusspot and stockbroker Jean-Louis, enjoying the haut monde life in 1960s' Paris with his uptight wife (Sandrine Kiberlain). When they hire a new maid (Natalia Verbeke) from the nest of Spanish domestics on their upper floor, Jean-Louis finds himself drawn into their cosy ménage and, on suffering some marital turbulence, actually moves in with them. The comedy is slight to the point of non-existence and the dawning of romance improbable, but its soft-centred gaiety is at least inoffensive.
