Asian horror, remade with Hollywood stars but still set in Asia – which has the possibly unintended effect of turning it into a parable about boorish Americans trampling over native sensitivities.

A young American photographer and his new bride travel to Tokyo, and while he's working she hangs out with Bill Murray – no, sorry, different film: while he's working, she realises they are being stalked by a vengeful ghost. It's moderately ingenious, but the stars are too bland for you to feel really frightened on their account.
