'The real-life Spinal Tap' description is apposite and there are indeed many moments of unintentional hilarity in Sacha Gervasi's documentary about a metal band still chasing the dream long after the dream has left them for dead.
What's surprising, though, is that Gervasi's film also serves as a heartbreaking study of what happens when grown men can't let go of childhood pacts and aspirations. Or, as the Tap themselves would say, too much fucking perspective.
