Kill your Darlings by Terence Blacker

Terence Blacker's new novel is a wickedly accurate satire set among the literary lions of West London. Gregory Keyes, once a much talked-about young turk (included in Granta's Best of Young British Novelists list) is now in his forties, forced to teach creative writing at the local adult education college, and edit volumes of literary trivia. His wife, Marigold, a successful interior designer, keeps the couple in enviable minimalist splendour. Obsessed by Martin Amis (who turns up frequently), our hero is determined to rehabilitate his once illustrious career, especially when he finds out that he and "Mart" have bedded the same publicity girl.
