The Exhibition: Come and See: Jake and Dinos Chapman, Serpentine Sackler Gallery, London

What is it? A retrospective of the work of Jake and Dinos Chapman.

The Independent says: “At its most raw, in the scale-models of scenes of depravity and disaster … this still has the power to shock. In minute detail, and taking anything from six months to a year or more to create, they build up mountains and rivers of tiny dismembered, bleeding bodies, heaped up by Nazi troopers, seized by skeletons and gleefully decapitated …. As a technique, the slap in the face of taste can wear thin, however.”

They say: Time Out: “ ... the brothers remain scrupulously committed to their sense of schoolboy puerility as well as the precision of their craft …. It would make for a closed loop of cynicism were it not for their slavish attention to detail, so fantastical it leaves you feeling heady … [a] last-minute contender for exhibition of the year.”
