MORE THAN 100 architects, academics and critics attended a meeting called by the Labour Party at the House of Commons this week. Labour wants more architectural competitions, some aimed specifically at encouraging young architects, the appointment of a government chief architect and an end to compulsory competitive tenders, which force practices into fierce fee- bidding battles.
