A man whose condom split during paid sex has had his damages suit rejected by a Japanese court, which ruled he should not have slept with a prostitute if he was worried about Aids. The man was demanding 3 million yen ($27,700) in damages from a condom-maker because of the danger of exposure to the HIV virus.

The incident occurred when he was having sex with a prostitute in Thailand in January 1994; the woman was later found to have Aids. Since then, the man has had 13 Aids tests but has not tested HIV positive. Reuter - Tokyo
