A woman's 100th birthday party was held the day after she died. Fred Royle, 70, of Sale, had booked a band and a puppet show for 80 relatives and friends of his mother, Alice. He said: 'I was upset that mum wasn't with us, but I didn't want to spoil everyone's fun.'
