European chip manufacturers have completed development of a chipset to support digital audio broadcasting (DAB), the radio technology expected to replace FM (frequency modulation). This means that manufacturers can now design radios built around the chip. DAB promises improved sound quality, even in relatively poor reception areas such as moving cars.
