George Russell has confirmed that contract talks with Mercedes are progressing positively as he seeks to secure his future with the team.
Russell stated that there was no pressure to finalise a deal during the summer break, with both sides comfortable with the ongoing discussions.
Mercedes principal Toto Wolff has expressed his desire to continue working with Russell and teammate Kimi Antonelli, especially with a new engine era beginning in 2026.
Russell, currently fourth in the drivers' standings, believes signing a new deal is a matter of 'when, not if'.
The driver noted that contract negotiations are one of many priorities, alongside on-track performance and future development.
