25-26 Premier League Matchday 12 Preview
  • The Premier League returns after an event-filled international break and, with it, Fantasy Premier League. Here are The Independent’s best picks ahead of Saturday morning’s 11am deadline.
  • With Liverpool’s upcoming fixtures looking favourable, a double-hit of Virgil van Dijk (£5.9m) and Cody Gakpo (£7.5m) could be effective.
  • Van Dijk – who saw a goal disallowed last time out against Manchester City – has the second highest defensive contribution (DefCon) actions this season with 119, while Gakpo, with three goals this campaign, could start as Liverpool look to reshuffle their attack after Florian Wirtz’s injury.
  • Crystal Palace wing-back Daniel Munoz (£5.8m) has impressed this season with his attacking displays but has also recorded points for his defensive contributions, too, with Palace keeping five clean sheets in 11 games so far.
  • Bryan Mbeumo (£8.5m) has been well-selected of late, with the Cameroon forward having scored four in his last four for Manchester United. No other midfielder has registered more shots on target than his 14, or created more big chances (eight). Alternatively, former United forward, Alejandro Garnacho (£6.4m), now of Chelsea, only has 1 per cent ownership on the game so far this season, but as his minutes have improved under Enzo Mareca, so has his output – and this weekend faces a Burnley side who have conceded 22 goals already in 2024/25.
