England Women's cricket coach Charlotte Edwards expressed satisfaction with her team's progress ahead of their World Cup opener against South Africa in Guwahati.
Edwards is focused on the future, moving past previous poor performances such as the Ashes whitewash and failure to reach the T20 World Cup group stages.
She highlighted the team's improved accountability, clarity in their playing style, and thorough preparation, but noted, “we’re not getting carried away”.
Confidence has been boosted by recent warm-up victories against hosts India and Australia, with Edwards particularly pleased by improvements in fielding and the team's physical condition.
Key players Heather Knight and Nat Sciver-Brunt are fit and ready, with Knight returning from a hamstring injury and Sciver-Brunt expected to bowl her full complement of overs despite a previous Achilles issue.
