Retired General Barry McCaffrey described a recent presentation by President Donald Trump to military leaders at Quantico, Virginia, as "one of the most bizarre, unsettling events" he had encountered.
McCaffrey further characterised Trump's delivery as "incoherent, exhausted, rabidly partisan, at times stupid, meandering, couldn’t hold a thought together."
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker echoed those concerns, suggesting the 25th Amendment should be invoked due to something "genuinely wrong" with Trump.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told military leaders to lose weight, shave, and prepare for potential deployment against the American public, alongside Trump's rhetoric of a "war from within" and using cities as "training grounds."
Democratic Senator Jack Reed condemned the presentation as "an expensive, dangerous dereliction of leadership," criticising Hegseth's demand for partisan loyalty over professional military principles.
