- British couple Barbie Reynolds, 76, and Peter Reynolds, 80, have been held by the Taliban in Afghanistan since 1 February without charge.
- They were initially held separately in a maximum-security prison in Kabul, before being transferred to the General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI).
- Their son, Jonathan Reynolds, described their harsh conditions, including a lack of beds and furniture, and expressed grave concerns about their deteriorating health.
- Peter Reynolds is suffering from Parkinson's and heart issues, while Barbie Reynolds experiences numbness, blue extremities, and signs of malnutrition.
- The couple had lived in Afghanistan for 18 years, running education projects, and UN human rights experts have warned they are at risk of "irreparable harm or even death".
