The crude reason why woman was awarded police compensation payout
Police officer steals woman’s underwear during property search
An Essex mother was awarded £3,500 in compensation after Suffolk Police officers laughed at her sex toys and moved her underwear during a drugs raid.
The woman felt disrespected after hearing laughter from her bedroom and finding her underwear moved during the search.
An internal investigation by the Norfolk and Suffolk professional standards department found the officers' actions to be "unacceptable and unprofessional," attributing them to immaturity rather than spite.
While no formal disciplinary action was taken, two officers involved were required to undertake 'reflective practice' and offered apologies to the complainant.
Suffolk Police stated that the officers involved were "very young in terms of service and still undergoing training" at the time of the incident.
