New CCTV shows rooms collapsing as massive earthquake hit Russia
Newly released CCTV footage from Severo-Kurilsk shows ceilings collapsing and interiors violently shaking during a powerful earthquake in Russia last week.
The 8.8 magnitude quake, which occurred off Russia’s far eastern Kamchatka Peninsula on 30 July at 11.25am local time, was the sixth most severe in recorded history.
The video also depicts debris scattered across roads, with later clips showing cleanup and restoration efforts.
Following the earthquake and resulting tsunami, over 2 million people globally were issued evacuation orders for their safety.
