Dozens of demonstrators arrested in Palestine Action protest

Scores brave torrential rain for Palestine solidarity protest in London
  • The Metropolitan Police arrested 55 demonstrators in central London for holding placards expressing support for Palestine Action, a proscribed group.
  • This marks the third consecutive weekend of mass arrests in the capital related to protests against the proscription of Palestine Action as a terror group.
  • The arrests were made under Section 13 of the Terrorism Act 2000, with eight people also arrested for similar offences in Truro, Cornwall.
  • The arrests precede a High Court hearing where Palestine Action's co-founder will seek to challenge the Home Secretary’s decision to ban the group.
  • Police warned protesters that expressing support for Palestine Action is an offence and highlighted the serious long-term implications of arrests under the Terrorism Act.
