A widespread ransomware cyberattack has shut down several state-run agencies in Nevada since Sunday, including the Department of Motor Vehicles and the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
Officials initially stated no personal data was stolen, but later confirmed evidence that some data had been exfiltrated from the state's network by malicious actors.
The attack has severely impacted essential services, including benefit programme portals and law enforcement operations, with some police departments resorting to manual record-keeping.
The Governor's office is providing updates, but the full scope of the breach, its cause, and suspects remain unclear, with no timeline for full system restoration.
The FBI is investigating the incident, and Nevadans have been advised to be vigilant against scams exploiting the situation.
